Kia is shaking things up in the electric vehicle (EV) space with the upcoming 2025 Kia EV4—a model that, for the first time in years, is neither an SUV nor a crossover. Instead, the EV4 will be available as both a hatchback and a sedan, directly competing with the Tesla Model 3, Polestar 2, MG 4, and Cupra Born.

A New EV for Sydney Drivers?

Sydney drivers looking for a stylish, high-tech electric vehicle may soon have another option on the market. While Kia Australia has yet to confirm local availability, the brand has made it clear that it’s eager to bring the EV4 down under. Given that all previous Kia EV models have made their way to Australian showrooms, it’s highly likely the EV4 will follow suit.

Tynan Kia Sutherland, a trusted dealership in Sydney, is expected to be among the first to showcase this exciting new addition once it arrives. With the growing demand for electric vehicles in the city, the EV4 could be a strong contender for buyers looking for a sleek, efficient, and high-tech EV.

Design & Features

Previewed by a concept car 18 months ago, the EV4 boasts a futuristic design inspired by Kia’s latest styling language. The front end features an aerodynamically efficient shape with ‘Star Map’ vertical LED headlights, while the sedan model sports a distinctive upswept tail and vertical tail-lights. The hatchback version, on the other hand, has a more conventional rear design with L-shaped lights and a bold black roof trim.

For those looking for a sportier edge, the GT-Line variant adds aggressive front and rear bumpers along with 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the EV4 is expected to mirror the EV3’s interior, featuring dual 12.3-inch screens, a 5.0-inch climate control display, and eco-friendly materials.

Performance & Range

While official specifications will be revealed on February 27 in Spain, industry experts expect the EV4 to share its platform with the EV3. That means a 400V electrical system rather than the 800V setup found in Kia’s larger EV models, helping to keep costs in check.

The standard version is expected to feature a single 150kW/283Nm front-mounted electric motor paired with either a 58.3kWh or 81.4kWh battery. Dual-motor, all-wheel-drive versions are also on the cards, likely including a high-performance GT variant capable of producing 250kW/470Nm and accelerating from 0-100km/h in just six seconds.

With the sleeker body design, the EV4 is predicted to exceed the EV3’s 605km European WLTP-rated driving range, making it a strong option for those needing long-distance efficiency.

When Can We Expect the Kia EV4 in Australia?

Although Kia has yet to confirm an official Australian launch date, the company’s strong track record with EV models suggests the EV4 will eventually arrive. With Sydney’s EV market rapidly growing, dealers like Tynan Kia Sutherland could soon be welcoming this highly anticipated model to their showrooms.

For Sydney drivers eager to make the switch to electric, the Kia EV4 could be the perfect blend of style, technology, and efficiency. Stay tuned for the full specs when the car makes its official debut on February 27!
